This Privacy Policy describes how Rise Trivia (the "Platform", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you access our website or participate in our live quiz events (the "Events"). The Platform is intended solely for users who are at least eighteen (18) years old, legal residents of the United States, and physically located within the United States at the time of participation.

1. Information We Collect

To operate our real-time game logic, track scoring fairly, verify eligibility, prevent abuse, and manage sponsor messages and promotional placements, we collect the following categories of information:

• Account Information: When you log in via Google Sign-In, we collect your verified Google email address, your name, and your Google profile picture.
• Technical and Connection Data: We may collect your Internet Protocol (IP) address, approximate geolocation signals derived from IP address or similar technical data, device/browser connection information, and device connection tokens, including Socket IDs, when you connect to our game server.
• Gameplay Metrics: We track your submitted answers, the specific timestamps of your submissions, quiz participation history, finishing place, and your total calculated scores.
• Prize and Eligibility Information: If you are an apparent prize winner, we may collect or process information needed to verify eligibility, communicate with you about the prize, and complete payout requirements. Verification may be handled by Stripe or another approved payout provider.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data for the following operational and business purposes:

• To authenticate your identity and administer your live quiz account.
• To process real-time scoring logic and verify leaderboard accuracy.
• To prevent fraud, duplicate-account abuse, automated play, VPN/proxy abuse, location-eligibility violations, and other activity that violates our Terms of Service.
• To identify apparent winners, verify eligibility, administer prizes, and communicate with you about prize-related requirements.
• To distribute winner notifications and sponsor-related promotional materials as described in our Terms and this Privacy Policy.
• To maintain records, troubleshoot technical issues, improve the Platform, and protect the safety, rights, and integrity of the Platform and its users.

3. Data Protection and Limited Third-Party Sharing

• No Sale of Personal Information: We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information with sponsors, advertisers, or third-party marketers for their independent marketing use.
• Sponsor Advertisements: We may partner with Event sponsors to fund free competitive prizes. These sponsors may pay to place advertisements on the Platform or to have Rise Trivia send limited sponsor-related communications connected to an Event. If you participate in an Event, we may send you up to one (1) post-quiz promotional email featuring the sponsor's offer. The sponsor does not receive, view, or own your email address or personal identity details from us unless you separately choose to provide your information directly to that sponsor. Promotional emails will include legally required sender information and opt-out or unsubscribe information where required by applicable law.
• Service Providers: We may share necessary information with service providers that help us operate the Platform, verify eligibility, process prize payouts, prevent fraud, comply with legal requirements, host infrastructure, authenticate users, send emails, or maintain records. These service providers may include Stripe or another approved payout provider for identity, address, tax, bank account, payout eligibility, compliance, fraud-prevention, and related operational purposes.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, subpoena, government regulation, or legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of the Platform, its users, sponsors, service providers, or the public.

4. Age and Geographic Restrictions: Adults in the United States Only

The Platform is hosted in the United States and is restricted to users who are at least eighteen (18) years old, legal residents of the United States, and physically located within the United States at the time of participation. We do not knowingly collect information from, or market to, individuals residing outside the United States. If you access or participate in the Platform from outside the United States, you are doing so in violation of our regional terms and may be disqualified from prize eligibility. We may use account information, technical information, IP address or geolocation signals, payout-provider verification, and manual review to evaluate eligibility and suspected violations.

5. State-Specific Privacy Rights (Multi-State Disclosures)

Depending on the U.S. state in which you reside, you may possess specific statutory data privacy rights regarding your personal information. Because we do not sell your personal information, our intended processing is limited to Platform operation, fraud prevention, prize administration, sponsor-message delivery by us, and required legal or service-provider uses.

• Ohio Consumer Protections: In accordance with Ohio law, we maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect consumer data and account information from unauthorized access or breach.
• California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell personal information and do not provide your email address to advertising partners for their independent marketing use. California residents may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, subject to applicable exceptions.
• Other State Frameworks (VA, CO, CT, UT, etc.): Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws may have rights to confirm processing, access certain data, correct inaccuracies, delete certain information, or opt out of certain uses where applicable.

6. Data Retention and Security

We retain gameplay metrics, account information, and connection data only as long as necessary to fulfill the operational goals of the quiz engine, verify historical leaderboard standings, resolve disputes, administer prizes, comply with legal obligations, and protect the integrity of the Platform. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy and Age Restriction

The Platform and Events are intended only for adults who are at least eighteen (18) years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a person under 18 has provided us with personal information or participated in an Event, we may delete the information from our active systems, terminate or restrict the account, and disqualify the participant from prize eligibility, subject to applicable law and record-retention needs.
